Control Arms/Bushings - Questions (Buying ASAP!!)

Hey all,

As I mentioned in a previous post, I'm going to be buying new control arms and bushings soon. I've done my research around here and on vendor's sites, but not everything is 100% clear.

Specifically, I'm interested in the Meyle HD arms/bushings, and I'd like to get a solid price estimate for those. Bavauto seems clear enough: $300 for both arms, $30 each for upper/lower ball joints (4 BJ total for $120), and about $90 for HD bushings/brackets.

If I go over to FCP Groton, they have two seemingly similar sets for different prices. Can anyone tell me the difference between the one that costs $425 and the one that's $365? Here's the link: http://www.fcpgroton.com/category-ex...0/by_year/113/

Also, if someone else has a better place to get these, please let me know. (I'm already prepared for Desert Motorworks/Ruben referrals and Bimmerworld referrals, but if they're cheaper, I'll consider). I'm interested in buying soon and having them shipped to me ASAP (hopefully before Saturday).

Thanks,
BW

Have you considered the stage one kit from ECS tuning? This is what I'm planning on getting once my suspension goes.

the meyle arms from BavAuto already have ball joints included, the $30 ones on the site are the replacements if you already have meyle arms and just want to replace the ball joints, so you wont need those. I just did mine and got the control arms from Desert Motor Works and powerflex bushings and meyle tie-rods from bimmerworld. I definitely recommend the Meyle HD arms with the powerflex bushings.

jmay,

I think you're right. The pic on BavAuto shows the CA with metal ball joints installed, as well as replacement ones next to the CA. They added "Replacement ball joints shown, sold separately" so that I wouldn't get confused, but I still did.

can anyone tell how much stronger these upgraded kits are compared to OEM BMW parts? I'm thinking of upgrading the control arms of my daily-driven 318i. What I'm after is a set of durable control arm kit to cope with treacherous road condition over here
