it's not 58k for just 100 hp. You actually get a brand new 5.7L v-10 engine. and other goodies

very true, but if I'm dropping $150+K on a car, I'm buying something more exotic than a BMW

I saw a Neiman Marcus M6. I couldn't tell the difference between it and the stock M6. Worthless.

As for the upgrade to the M6 and the S85 engine, I've heard that it's worth every penny. For 100 naturally aspirated horsepower with a warranty, it's hard to beat. What's cool is that Dinan is coming out with a stroker kit for the S65 motor for the new M3.
Is it insanely expensive? Yes. But it's one of those things where if you REALLY want it, it's not going to matter how much it will cost.
