YOU GUYS ARE GOING TO LAUGH need some info

Hi Mike Jones here I normally post on the M3 E46 board but I need some help from my fellow bimmer brothers. I have a friend who just bought a 2008 335i coupe and the dealer told him his first oil change is not till like 40,000 miles!!!!!!!!!!!!! I told him hes crazy! Doesnt he have to change the oil the first time at like 1,000 miles due to all the engine parts shavings that are in the oil the first 1000 miles? Let me know soon as possible. He has 1200 miles on it now and I would hate to see him ruin that motor

I know with the new M3s you have to to take it easy and then get a complete fuild flush at 1500 miles. So I would call another dealer....now.

I have a european engine thats been worked to pass american emission standards and doesnt have a governor. Those are the benefits you get living in europe buying the car so late straight from the factory. Its a 2006 that wasn't built until may of 2006. the european engines have 343 hp and 269 torqe. When I get back to america in febuary lol it better pass american emissions! lol

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_M3

Performance
The M3's S54 naturally aspirated engine produces more than 100 horsepower (75 kW) per litre (340 hp/3.2 litre)

EUR Models

343 HO / 252 kW @ 7900 rpm
Torque: 365 Nm / 269 ft·lbf @ 4900 rpm
0-60 mph - 5.2 seconds
1/4 Mile - 13.3@105
Top Speed: 185 mph (298 km/h)
Skid Pad: 0.98g
US Models

333 hp / 262 ft·lbf
0-60 mph - 5.2 seconds
1/4 Mile - 13.3@104 mph[10]
Top Speed: 155 mph (electronically limited)[11]
Top Speed: 185 mph (delimited and indicated, real speed is 176mph)[12]
Skid Pad: 0.98g
Cabriolet / Convertible model 1/4 Mile +/- ~.5 sec

they built the car to my color designs and with the european motor! I dont think there will be many more like mine in america. I dont know what they did to make up the 10 hp difference.

I think BMW will leave the 335i at 300 HP for 4 years, but after that they will add 15 to 20 hp by spooling up the turbos and it will be faster THEN, but not NOW~! lol the 335i IS A BEAUTIFUL CAR!

i talk with BMW Switzerland about the oil change for the 335i. they told me the first oil change is when the BC shows it.

just ///M cars must do a oil change after the first 1000 miles.

I think you got the numbers mixed up a bit. BMW changes your oil under the warranty at every 15k miles. At least in the U.S. anyways.

40k is a joke, but even the BMW standard 15k in the US is a joke. I get mine changed every 5k. which is like every 5 months. For $80 every 5 months I can deal with that price, and be comfortable that I am "over servicing" the car. All new cars should have a break in service at about 1200-1500 miles.

I agree! 80.00 every five months is cheap insurance versus spending almost 10K on a remanufactured S54!

I only have about 320 hp on my supercharged 330ci, no stock M3 convertible gets by me though, I wonder why...
