use a bbq grill in absence of a gas stove. or get a butane burner.

I got a couple of them for hurricane preparedness.

basically put a cast iron or stainless skillet on a grill, heat it up with the top closed, and then cook from there...

YUM YUM ! Is there a benefit ( taste ) in cooking a potato in the oven ? I throw mine in the microwave for 10 minutes, but I do not recall a difference in taste from the oven.

I cooked some steak last weekend using the recipe in this thread and it was good as well.

Thanks !

I just had steak for dinner too. One of the most important things is to let the meat rest when you take it off the grill. Otherwise, all the juices will not stay inside the steak. Also, fresh ground pepper, kosher salt, and garlic powder is all you ever need for a steak. I used to mess with those 'grillers' that have tens of spices in them. Too many flavors...i like the taste of a good steak

Question: I currently live in an apartment building and I don't have access to a grill. I do, however, have an electric stove and an oven haha. How do you guys recommend I cook steak to make it perfect an delicious? I did it on a skillet on the stove last time and I ended up filling my apartment with smoke (the smoke detector went off and I had to take out a fan to blow air against it to shut it up ).

I want some good steak but don't have the equipment! Help!

And the bases of my rub was salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and a little shake of montreal steak seasoning just for the hell of it.

You guys need to get your grill marks at 45* to each other, not 90*.

My preferred way of cooking cow:

1. take dead cow and drizzle EVOO on both sides, season with salt and pepper (thats ALL you need)

2. get skillet uber-hot, throw dead cow on skillet and cook for 4 min

3. flip dead cow and grill for additional 2 min

4. plate dead cow and rest for 5-7 min,

5. ???

6. Eat, profit
