Easy?

I have to do it. Any guides or tips?

Or am I going to have find all those screws and clips alone.

HELP!

Previous owner drilled holes in the side console that are irreparable and look horrid. I already bought a mint condition dash so I gotta do it. I've swapped dashes on my E30 and I heard E46's are easier as modern cars need to be quick to build/repair. But I wouldn't know where to start.

Interesting thread but doesn't tell you what to do at all. All I've learnt so far is:

1) Remove Glovebox - hidden fixings there.
2) Remove Handbrake Console - Main Console is part of the dash.
3) Remove Passenger Airbag
4) Remove Drivers Airbag
5) More fixings behind ashtray / storage bin.
6) Fixings behind centre trim
7) Fixings behind under dash steering cowling
8) Must also remove A-Pillar trims.

Is that really relevant? He just wants to know how to do it.

the times i've done a few dashes...i just start taking stuff apart and find the screws holdin the dash in and eventually it'll come out. add instrument cluster to your list, and steering wheel has to come off. i'm pretty sure the center console has to come out too. if you have access with anyone with alldata it should have some info in there

Have you done E46 dash's?

Bentley Manual does not cover this as I understand. I just need someone who has actually done this to really quickly bullet point the steps and flag any problem areas where stuff could crack or get scratched.

Appreciate all the help but still no closer to any knowledge on this...

Search for my thread - "balls of steel interior modding" - in the showroom section, and you'll find all the answers you need in there. I wrote up a quick how-to on the 1st or 2nd page.

Respect!

It looks like most of the guts stays attached to the firewall and the dash just sits on top of all the mess. I've given myself a day (and into the night) to swap in and out.

While I'm there I'll fit Parrot Bluetooth mic, OEM CD head unit, OEM iPod controller and steering wheel interface for iPod and Parrot. Then I never want to go in there again.

Will document this but not for a few weeks...
