Unhappy my HPF M3's subframe is cracked! Reinforcement begins..

sooo the reinforcement begins..i took my car in monday for what i thought would be simple Inspection II tune up..i took it to The M shop in Eagle rock CA..so i took the owner for a ride since my SMG was having some trouble (figures) right away he thought my subframe might be cracked...we got back to the shop put her up on the lift and right away he noticed a crack..2 of them actually..luckily they are small and can be fixed easy..the HPF reinforcement will do the job just fine..a simple 5 minute inspection and we both noticed the crack along with bad bushings and a number of other worm items...anyway so i went down to the shop today to see them kicking butt on the job dropped the whole rear end out already everything is going great i took some pictures to show you guys...to ANY of you fanatics id suggest you go take your car and put it up on a lift just to check it out..luckily we caught the cracks when they were still SMALL this job is costing a lot of $$$ and its a simple fix so if you guys let it get out of hand it will be some major money..i hope this happens to as few of you fellow fanatics as possible BTW when i took it in monday there was another BONE STOCK M3 that had a crack in the subframe also so this can happen to anyone! here are the pictures

couple of questions, how much milage does your car have? and how are they fixing it? just welding or adding plate metal over it?

Do convertibles have these subframe issues...I've searched and someone said "no" due to the added bracing that is inherent on the vehicle?

I don't recall at what stage HPF includes their rear subframe reinforcements but I guess it isn't at Stage II. For a little extra money maybe they should demand it in order to keep the reliability of the power upgrade good from the start?

i do not believe that because i have the HPF turbo Kit thats what caused my cracks in the subframe this is a somewhat common problem with the E46 model and the day i took it in another BONE STOCK M3 had a crack also and it was worse than mine...it all depends on if you get lucky or not it can happen to anyone

My car is going to the dealer next week to have them check the subframe for cracks. I've heard BMW NA will pony up and pay the dealer to fix it if the dealer sees a problem.
