ice cream in the freezer

whats the phenomenon called when u leave ice cream in the freezer for a long time and little spikes start to form?

no i think freezer burn refers to the color of food turning black

Look at that subtle jet-black coloring. The tasteful thickness of it. Oh my God, it even has a 6mt.

freezer burn is the formation of ice crystals on your product.

so yes, the ice crystals on the ice cream is freezer burn. you can prevent it by covering it first in saran wrap or wax paper before putting on the lid.
