I got my inspection II at the local dealer. Try indy shops for cheaper prices.

My Ride: 2003 325i
Dumb question from new E46 owner: Do regular 325i's need valve adjustment or is it just the M's?

The reason the M3 needs it and the 325i doesn't is because the M3 S54 engine uses mechanical lifters. These lifters shift slightly as they are banged against but have the advantage of working faster and able to rev up to the 8k+ rpm range. The 325i M54 uses hydraulic lifters that automatically shift over time.
