Help with coolant problem

I have a 2001 325xi with 119,000 miles. I am having a problem with my coolant light going on and off. When the car is idling or stopped the light is off but once I hit approximately 40 mph the coolant light comes on. I have also only had this problem since at as gotten cold here in Chicago. All summer long I have had no instances with my coolant. I am not seeing any leaks or drips. I have topped off the coolant recently it didnít take much to top it off. Once I top it off the light goes out and stays out. But approximately a week later it came on again. Gain I topped it off and everything seems fine. At approximately 95k miles I did have to get the water pump replaces as it locked up causing the fan to brake and puncher my radiator which was all fixed my the dealer. Please help where should I start to determine what is wrong?

Coolant Flush time... Your coolant level is low; topping it off with distilled water may hold you ovr for a few days, but definatley don't let it get to the point of over heating

I'm in the process of doing this myself.

Sounds like your thermostat is not fully open since you only get the coolant light at 40mph and loosing very little fluid.
