glockman, you got me really curious about the marantz units. Would you reommend the 7002? I found an awesome deal on one, although a little higher than my initial budget... I am a little worried that it doesn't have some of the newer advanced features that comparable (price wise) denon has like dynamic volume and dynamic eq (audyssey). it also doesn't have much video capabilities (upconversion), while the denon and pioneers use the latest farajouda 1080p upconverting technology... I definitely want a unit that is as future-proof as possible. I won't be using it as a preamp, I will be using the internal amp, which 110 watts a channel is perfect for me.

what do you think? this or the denon 2809ci/pioneer elite vsx-01txh? The pioneer ends up being about $250 cheaper than the marantz and denon... I do feel good knowing that you choose this one when you could choose practically any unit, even though you are only using it as preamp...

I was trying to save room in my audio cabinet and I almost ran my system without my amp to do so.

After an hour of A/B on the action scenes of Transformers, I decided to keep my amp.

What does that mean? It took me an hour to justify keeping a $5000 1500w RMS amplifier after buying the SR7002.

I will see if I can find some spec differences on the units. Right off the bat I can tell you that the Marantz weighs 5 pounds more, that usually means meatier power supply.
