I do think that the holiday season has morphed into a perverse corporate uber-month but I suppose thats to be expected in a consumer nation with predominantly Judeo-Christian citizens.

What I cannot stand is the insistence by the right-wing that there is some "war" on Christmas. I'm Jewish and have been dating a wonderful non-Jewish girl for nearly 5 years. I decorated a fricken tree this weekend! In fact, as I was decorating the tree and getting stuck by the thorny pines repeatedly, I really started to think that the decision to use a spruce or pine or whatever must have been thought up by a Jew. In my heaviest Jewish accent: "Celebrate, yes... but remember the pain... 40 years... 40 years... the least we could do is choose a painful tree to remind us"

F'n LOL. And because the Jews are a nomadic people, they were able to go all over the world to find the most irritating tree possible.

Both statements are true from the point of view of a non-christian and some christians.

Add to that the iconography of Nicholas of Myra and the concept that his alleged intercession miracles are worshiped (intercession being considered not needed by protestant faiths) and a valid, post-lutheran arguement can be made that St. Nick is pagan worshiped even by so called christians.

Don't even get me started on the whole "christ" thing for Jesus of Nazareth.

In the U.S. is the only place Christians do not seem to fight for their belief's and rights....they just roll over...maybe it's that ol' catholic guilt

But all around the world Christians still fight (and some kill) for their religious belief's, maybe it is time some Christians here took the same approach
