How does the G-Tech Pro Work?

I am thinking of getting one, to check how fast I can launch my car from a stop.

Just wondering if anyone have experience with it

Peace

My friends and I thought about this for a while.

Basically... it know's how fast you're accelerating at any given second. Integrate acceleration with Time gives you speed of your car (that's how it calculates 0-60 times). Integrate speed with time gives you distance (that's how it'll give you 1/4 mile times).

Basically it should be more accurate then going to the drag strip since it takes away your reaction time. It starts counting when you start to accelearte, thus it should give you your pure 0-60 time or 1/4 time.

I've used my friend's G-tech. works pretty good. Its a good way to see if anything you do to your car makes it faster without going to the dyno. I've only done 0-60 times with it (haven't found a spot to do 1/4 miles). Seems pretty accurate.

Talking Just got my new G tech Pro competition.

Ordered it from Bavarianautosport.com. It's the one with the new graph display and computer hookup. Great looking product, but I only got to mess with it for a little while tonight.

I calibrated it and everything, and tried driving with it for a while in continuous mode. In this mode it gives you a real time RPM display, real time G's and shift lights. Honestly so far the shift lights are the coolest thing. You set your selected redline (i set mine to 5800) and then at 500 before your selected redline one red light comes on, at 250 before it two red lights come on, and when you hit your redline 4 blinking ones come on indicating you to shift. I know other aftermarket tachs do this, but I've never had any experience with them, so this is new and interesting to me. Of course I don't actually use the digital tach or lights to shift, but it's neat to see them light up at me.

The only other thing I did was one 0-60 run. It's hard because it's summer time here and mad people on the roads. So I had to find a road, make sure no one was coming, stop in the middle of it, press the OK button, and go! I didn't do a drop clutch launch, just a normal one, and I actually screwed that up a little bit ( I was nervous being stopped in the middle of the road!) so I got a 7.5 second 0-60 run. Sucky I know, but then you can replay your run and it first charts your RPM's and elapsed time, and then your HP and elapsed time all on replayed moving graphs! I'm gonna try and hook it up to my computer now and play it back on here too. Also, it gives you a summary of your run too, 300ft time, 1/8 mile time, HP, TQ, in addition to 0-60.

Sorry for the rambling long post, but it really is a neat toy. Don't know about the accuracy of the HP and TQ figures though as it said my max HP through my weak 0-60 run was 171. More results to come tomorrow!
