intake trouble
ok so i just installed my air intake and everything was good when i took it for a spin then like halfway through the drive my check engine light turned on and there was a funny knocking noise coming from the intake when i gased my car..anyone know why that happened?????

If you have a K&N filter, maybe your lower intake tube disconnected from your upper intake tube? See my thread in the general forum...

i read it...my car wasnt like that and it wasnt a k&n one..thanks for the help thought.....anyone else

Keep it clean
|
Did you check the installation? Our MAFs are picky. They like to be level and straight up and down.
If you look over everything and can't find a problem, re-install the stocker and see if the noises go away.

yea i re installed the stock intake and the check engine light turned off and the car is running good now

Try re-installing the CAI again, and find out what the codes are.

ok i will do that the only think thats holding me back from doing that is that for the check engine light to turn on i gotta drive the car for a mile or 2 and i kinda dnt want the intake to start making that weird ass noise nd f*** up my engine

I don't see how if you keep the stock one on how it doesnt make the noise. Are you sure its engine related, like coming from the inside of engine? It could be something rubbing.

nooo i never said the engine was making the noise lol it was the intake that was making the noise

Take the car down to either BMW or your local mecanic, have them install the intake, check the codes, and they will tell you what to do. It should be too bad, prolly just a MAF Sensor problem or something.
