Is The Harman Kardon upgrade worth it????

Well i ordered the 2003 m3 however I am not sure is this updated stereo worth it???

I mean i had a system in my lexusis300 completely custom with tvs and all but it ended up getting stolen when i parked at a theater and everything my tv,amps, etc all ripped out

this now has me to the point where I do not want to go nuts with a stereo ever again....all i want if i went aftermarket would be a removable radio deck and speakers....no need for subs and what not this time around

so question is do i update the system if thats all i really need or just go do it aftermarket????

do i just maybe get the factory cd changer and thats it??? is the marman worth it?? did a search and found nothing just maybe 1 post saying it wasnt worth it

thanks in advance guys

it is not worth it. it is horrible. if you care for aound quality do not get it. as far as getting ur stuff stolen, do a low key system. no tv's and take out your headunit when you park.

i got teh HK system and i lvoe it you realy dont need to add anything to it IMO, however i love bump so i will be keeping the system stock but adding in a 12" sub in the trunk

But hey here is an idea go down to your dealership and ask to sit in a car with it and one with out it and see if you liek it enough more to spend 400(dont forget to turn on the spacilization effect if you do this)

I like mine. I think it's worth the 400-500 that a dealer's going to charge you. If you're big on competing and sh!t like that then I don't. I love mine. I just added two 12's in the trunk and belends very nicely with the sub's. Congrats on the orders ...sorry to hear about the IS:sad:

i just walked in from the dealer and decided on not getting the stereo......i am just going to get a removable radio later and probably upgrade the speakers.....they were asking for 600 to upgrade....i can buy a alpine deck off a friend for 150 and just get some good speakers for that amount.....so i leaned against getting the upgrade....thanks though everyone for the input

if u love music, its not worth it. there is no highs at all and i had to turn my treble all the way up and it sucked. ended up getting aftermarkets in the front.

is it worth it just to get the upgrade for the extra speaker locations if nothing else?

I'd rather get crossfire components myself. Its not worth it. They're not worth it.

Its def. worth it. You will be under warranty and if ANYTHING goes wrong, you can always go to BMW and ***** that you paid 695 for the upgraded 12 amped and bass induced speakers and can say you didn't pay 695 for [any problem that you might come across]. Get it! Great system! Also doesn't add much weight as if you were to get some after market subs. Hope that helped

naa man....not worth it....best audio upgrade that u can get from a dealership is Monsoon....and i think you can only get it in VWs.....so unless u have an option for a Monsoon upgrade dont upgrade

I currently have the HK premiums and honestly they suck. It lacks almost everything base/highs etc etc. Definitely worth the upgrade.

Alright, this may sound like a stupid question, but this is my first E46. When I ordered my car (2004 33ci) the BMWNA website shows 12 speakers in the Harmon Kardon pop up window, including three speakers for each front door. But when I got my car, all I see is two in each front door. Am I misssing something?

Thanks

I agree the HK system is not worht it.. I just changed my system... Kept the head unit.

Just added two hi/low converters OEM head unit outputs. Added 4 channel 400 watt Audiobahn AMP- drives front and rear speakers. ( Audiobahn)

Sub Infinity 10 inch in custom enclosure and 300watt amps. Installed everything in about 12 hours. All totaled came to about $1200..... The system is not top of the line.. But compared to the OEM set up. I can say I am really hearing music for the first time.

Bought all my stuff from: Gary at http://www.audio-warehouse.com/web/m...o/caraudio.asp

Good prices good service... very helpful
