Looking to buy B&W 683's or 805S - What else should I look at?

I got them used for $1400. Couldn't pass it up! I'm going to move the brand new 685's to the rear. I'm waiting to buy a new pre/pro and amp or receiver...my Onkyo works well enough for now.

You should have got a pair of Totem Mani-2 Sigs instead. They can be had for mid $2k range used on audiogon. I picked up a pair of Mani-2 Sigs + Target 2 stands and beaks for $3400 CDN.

I don't think I could handle having to look at those things all the time. Super ugly.

They were used But are in amazing condition and sound excellent.

Yea, but I've yet to find any used below 3 grand.

edit: Found some on audiogon that are "two months" old for 2100. Their rosenut, though. Yuck.

I've never bought used speakers before, what do you think?

I have a Cinonova Grande Amp and two MKV 15" Subs myself.

I went with all LSi/LCi for fullrange though.

Would you suggest one of their subs for my 805s'? Mind you I live in close quarters with my neighbors.

Yea get the 12....i have it, it has more then enough power. And the reviews on it are outstanding.

Can it handle the really fast stuff? I listen to a lot of Lamb of God.

Decent front speakers in stereo mode should not require much from a subwoofer.

If music is more important to you than movies, go with two 10" or 8" high powered high quality subs.

If not, the 12 or 15(s) will shake your house.

Yea, my B&W's aren't even hooked up to my tv. What sub would you suggest for an 8" or 10"?

Ok, I'm seriously confused on the best way to power these things. Can someone school me on pre-amps, integrated? I'd be ready to buy, if I knew what the hell I'm looking for. I'm not getting what I want out of this onkyo receiver.

What does your Onkyo not do?

I would consider buying a good sub before upgrading.

I would also consider buying a great STEREO reciever for $500-$1000.

I am assuming money matters.

A good preamp/power amp combo starts around $3000.

My 5 channel amp retails for $4500 and is considered one of the best VALUES on the market.

It adds up fast and you WILL get deminshing returns.
