Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 Track better than an E46 M3 Bimmer :(

I just read this last night when I received the magazine:

"The last-generation BMW M3 was, and still is, a fantastic GT car. No person in his right mind could say its structure felt like soggy fettuccine. Well, according to Hyundai, the Genesis Coupe boasts a body 24 percent stiffer in bending rigidity than that of the E46 Bimmer. Better than an M3? In this instance, it appears so."

I was dishartened but at the same time I am happy for Hyundai for making a nice GT car that is affordable. I even saw a picture of the inside and it is beautiful.

I sill love my M3 ! My heart just skipped a beat when I saw that. I am sure a 2020 minivan would run circles around my m3 LOL

ok, this sh1t happens B.
in 95, the M3 had 240bhp and it was like woah, nice, now u can get a camry with more HP than that.
so yeah, the E46 which is really 9 years old as far as development, yeah its gonna get surpassed sooner or later. but im sure its still not half the car the M3 is, and fukin Motor Trend, that magazine is a joke B

No doubt, Hyundai has come a long way.... but it's still a Hyundai... Their new luxury model runs in the high $30K range, close to 40 Large.. For a Hyndai?????..You can get a nice 3 Series for that still or just a bit more... you have to ask your self.."what would I rather drive?"

to me it looks like a 350z from the side profile, but with the rear end jacked up...

It's just the natural progression of things. The E46 ///M has a 10 year old design and engine. No big deal. The E36 325i ran with the E30 ///M in street form.

At any rate it is all good.

The e36 m3 is a beauty even with only 240 LOL.

wow, 10 years later and they're still comparing cars to the e46 m3, I would feel appreciated if anything.

you have to also think about having the car in the long run....Hyundai maintenance will be a lot cheaper and probably require less maintenance then a BMW....so you really have to ask yourself "Can I afford a BMW in the long run".

whats funny is BMWs are still out accelerating cars with more horsepower.
i surprise myself when i smoke mofos with my lil lowly 328i... There is so much mor eput intot our cars that even just looking at the numbers isnt enough.
Like compare a E46 M3 to a C5 vette. just the regular vette.
On paper, youd think the Vette would smoke that ass. The reality is theyre very closely matched and can come down to the drivers.

Hyundai should compete with Honda and Toyota category, they have a looooooooooooooong way to go to BMW standards

well good for Hyundai I guess, they just acheived what BMW achieved almost a decade ago

Structural rigidity?

The E46 has sub frame issues, the rigidity of the car wasn't and isn't it's strongest point.

The 3.2 liter 333HP Inline-6 was and is the best NA 6-cylinder ever made. The car still looks better than 95% of cars out there.

The Genesis coupe is great, but a E46 M3 it is not better than other than these random facts.

I cant justify spending $35k + on hyundai which next year the value drops to prolly like $15K

i think its pretty funny how instead of comparing the genesis coupe to other 2009 models around the same class, they compare it to a 9 year old bmw. and IMO that 9 year old BMW surpasses that Hyundai in nearly everyway still.
Just ask yourself, when you pull up to a really happening spot- what would you rather be seen in?

I would be seen in an M3 anyday over any Hyundai. just my opinion of course.

And yet they still fail to reach the social status of a 10 year old BMW

So impressed with Hyundai. That said, surpassing the performance of a 10 year old car shouldn't really be a "benchmark of awesomeness".
