Don't hold your breath... JimC has been promising Shark Edit for a couple of years now and every time it was just a few months away. Two years (IIRC) and counting.

I wonder if this thread had anything to do with the "out of no were update" on their page.
Im sure the shark edit is going to cost a arm and a leg......dont let this stop your research.

JIM C has put an amazing amount of work on the shark edit its not easy to put together but he has done it.

I will be the first inline to support his work by buying it as soon as its available.

GT1 is an alternative to the KWP2000, it has more features and probably better software but at a price of about $1500.

Please let us know how well the KWP2000 and its software works when you receive them. Actual BIN files from a stock ecu using the KWP2000 will also be much appreciated. I want to buy one as well and it will be good to know if the product actually delivers as advertised.

there were screenshots posted of Sharkedit back in 2000.........9 year old vaporware that may exist into something soon. Turner will read this and now call Jim C after i press quick reply and spam this thread now with marketing and spending time with his son delaying the project. 10.....9.......8......

Well I finally received my KWP2000+ flasher (EBAY very cheap under 50$) and was successfull in downloading my DME original tune from my 2003 330i (SIEMENS MS43 DME).

File is 64K it contains all the values needed to tune the car at 100%.

Like promised I have attached the file for everybody to use and experiment.

Once I am done modifying my tune I will uploaded it as well for everybody to experiment and compare.

***just noticed it wont let me upload Bin files.. ..Moderators can something be done so I can upload my BIN file.

You could host the .BIN file on another website and just give us the link.

Using winOLS I will update this thread with maps I find:

Example of a map that I am almost sure is the MAF sensor. in HEX and 2-D

Address - 70DBE - 70F76

Maybe try renaming the file (change the file extension).

I tried changing to a JPG but it told me invalid JPG..of course..

Email it to me and I can host the file on an ftp server. There are also free hard drives on the net, the downside to them is they limit the number of downloads. I will PM you my email, if it is something you would like to do.

About the images you attached, are those screen shots of the software included with the KWP2000?

no....the KWP2000 comes with a FLASHER/READER software.

All it does is read and flash. You begin by selecting your DME, making sure you have power on the unit and key on (without starting your car) give the file a name and do a read...takes 3 minutes..key to OFF and close software.

For the maps...the screen you see is winOLS(freedemo)....which I then use tunerPro(free) to create a XDF file to import the tables found to create the maps.

Then I will create a program In .NET to get the tables and to make it easier for me and anybody here to be able to edit your cars tune.

It would be awesome to get help from others that know how to read HEXdecimal faster then me and that already know some existing maps...

Yes after close examination for the images I have confirmed my suspicions. Just another pretty picture, looks like Jackson Pollock painting I have no idea what it means. I'm in over my head. I wish I did.

I can write a program to translate the table from hex to decimal if that would be of some help. I am ordering a book from amazon, it has to potential of describing maps, hopefully then I can make sense of the table. I guess what I am saying is, I will see what I can do with this.

For the MAPS ... Looks like WinOLS can automaticaly find maps....not all but some. Looking in 2-D ...I can use HPTUNERS (old tuning software I used to tune F/I GM cars) to assist in identifying the found maps. (<--- this is where 80% of the work is made) after building the GUI is very easy and tuning/testing is the easy and fun part if you know how to tune properly but I can setup a DIY for starter tuners after...

I need to find these for starters:

-MAF freq
-PE
-Timing control
-Torque management

ahhh so much work ahead...

LOL... nothing special my friend trust me. Like anything else reading, research and hands on it will all come together. For me its not the tuning part....its having to build the maps from scratch to then being able to tune that are a pain in the ass....BUT once they are found and comfirmed then the fun begins
