is this correct - the ipod connects to amp 1 which connects to amp 2 which is then connected to the selector

what would you suggest for an amp ? the sherbourne one looks great but its approx $3k so if we need 2 then that is a little more than we budgeted

Speakercraft BB1265 is a 12 channel amp. Runs around $2600.

I think glock posted he had a Niles one for even cheaper.

+1.. you could do this whole project by getting one of these: http://cgi.ebay.com/NAD-2200-stereo-...3%3A1|294%3A50
and an ipod cable
then get a decent understanding of series vs parallel wiring and be fine.

Get either a good 2-channel amp, and that 12-pair selector you linked.
Or get one of those multi-channel amps and a matching pre-amp so you can hook up multiple things to it (ipod, cd changer, maybe xm radio)

Can you call the previous owner and ask him how he had it hooked up?
He is obviously a home theater enthusiast, he probably would not mind sharing.

Foreclosure, I wonder why ?

I was thinking the same thing.

Also you might want to try on AVS or just stick to glock and Blown on here.

the previous owner was some type of independant investment guy, thats why there were so many screens everywhere, the house was appraised at 1.8, inlaws paid 1.1, its a really nice place, its in ft lauderdale on the water, the previous owner just got his ass kicked in the stock market and had been leveraged up to the hilt as is the american way

i bought the russound selector and a yamaha receiver, just need to pick up some decent cables now

thanks again for all your help

took me about an hour to hook everything up, they dsaid the existing wires werre labelled but they werent so we spent a bit of time figuring out which wires went to which rooms, then tested all the components, adjusted all the volumes, works really well, inlaws are incredibly happy, the existing speakers sound pretty good, during the party the volume was loud enough that you had to shout to talk to the person next to you and the quality of the sound coming from the speakers was perfect so overall the system works pefectly for the needs of my inlaws

i got bored sunday so installed 4 exterior ceiling fans for them, snaked some cables from their TV's through the wall to the outlets so they are now hidden from view

needless to say they were pretty happy

thank you to everyone who helped with this project
