I'm going to be buying some new rims for this summer on my 2001 330ci and I'm just curious if I can fit 20" or what you recommend for rim size.

Interesting question, I was at an event at a shop called AT-Speed where Steve Dinan was speaking; it's the newest Dinan certified shop in Maryland and he was asked that very question. His answer surprisingly enough was 18" wheels. He said that in his opinion the best performance wheel balance comes from a wheel no larger than 18" because any larger is scrificing entirely too much side wall. Just my two and a half cents worth. Happy Motoring...

You drive a 3 series, not an escalade. Keep the wheels non-chrome and 19 or under unless you want to look like an idiot.

Yeah 19's with 35 series sounds good. i was just shooting for 20's because that is when Dropstar and TIS start their sizing (personal favorites). I don't drive an escalade? Man i got that one confused.

Today i saw 19" Black CSL style rims on an e46 and they looked sick but the tire was very thin. Owner mentioned he had 20"s on. He didnt mention cutting anything for fittment but i didnt ask outright.
What ever you get you will prolly need to get a drop after IMO. I know I do and everyone else says it too. Quote:

There are several sets of 20" DPEs on this site. I personally prefer a 19", but 20s will fit.

why would 19'd be pusing it?
And yeah you can go 20's but 19's is your best bet.

i dont understand why on this forum, when people ask if something will work, all anyone can do is say "Why do you wanna do that, you should do this" if he wants 20's let him buy 20's, im sure he knows about the drawbacks but not everyone wants the same things out of their cars as other people. some people want an auto-x car, some people want a drag queen (
) some people want a "clean" skow car, ans someone wants a blinged out ride with huge ass wheels.....Yes 20's will fit, and if thats what you really want for YOUR car and YOU are paying for them, then i hope you get them and u are happy. **end rant**
