Non-external Amp System Upgrade [in progress..]

After reading a lot of threads on upgrading HUs, addings amps, replacing speakers, I'd say about 10% recognized and spoke to the non-external amp stock HUs.

After receiving my 3, well even during the few test drives of it, I noticed the sound quality lacking, in every aspect. It was great if you wanted to listen to AM only but one can only take so much news. You think you guys with the HK system have it bad.. try the non-HK 6 speaker setup! (joke)

With that said, I will keep this thread active as sort of a blog of my install progress, issues that arise, and feel free to ask away or provide feedback.

My only criteria currently for the install is to keep the stock HU present for interior asthetics, and run components up front, and either coax-s in the rear aalong with a small sub or 6.5" midbass in the rear (on order).

I want to stay away from the discussions of acoustic preferences here, and focus more on the install kinks that come up along the way, as the 6 speaker system is a little more challenging to work with.

So with that said, lets start..

Tonight I was able to get to the rear of the HU and map out the pinouts of the stock harness. (as i was typing this post in, I lost my original, so I will now provide an abbreviated version )

The goal is to keep the stock HU, and determine how to make the stock HU output a differential signal as it is currently powering the speakers. Thanks to Canuck328 for help on this point.

As mentioned prior, it would be ideal to get the HU to output a differential signal like the case of the HK system and tap into that using a SVEN converter.

The evidence to support the idea that the amp'd HUs can provide differential signals is appealing - the HU in the HK system is the same as the one in the non-HK non-external amp system.. one outputs a differential signal and one doesn't - which leads me and most others to believe the stock HU can detect, and then determine what type of output signal to put out.

Ideally I would like to tap all four corners via the differential signal (going on the above theory) - LF, RF, RL, RR. See the diagram as their pinouts are mapped out.

Theoretically, if the HU is smart enough to detect what signal to output - then all one would have to do would be to tap the 8 wires identified, and run a SVEN4 and 2 sets of patch cables to my 4 channel amp.

This is where I left off for tonight, as Monday monring soon approaches.
