Does your garage door opener have rolling codes? you might need to program your opener.

Well its a new part right out of the box from the dealer. I tried programing it. the little yellow light should light up when you press a button. This is really wierd.

Another thing, the wiring plug that plugs into the module. I had to brake of a little tab for ir to fit. Did you guys have to do that also?

You shouldn't have to break any tabs off. It's a perfect fit. Make sure you also have the car on. Otherwise there is no power to the opener.

It's been a while but I think there is more than one wiring harness is that general area. In fact, if I remember correctly, I really had to dig around to find it. It should fit perfectly. BTW - they don't work all that well anyway, especially if you have a newer garage door or gate that uses rolling codes. I have to practically be close enough to ram my garage door before it opens.....the cheap-ass remote that came with it opens it from half way down the block.

okay i went through the same thing.

you found the black connector 3wire plug right. that is not the right one. I assume that was the right one as well. The correct connector is colored white and should be tucked on the passenger side. It's hard to see and I had to use a screw driver to get the connector out.

go drop the panel then then light cluster and look for another bundle of wire on the passenger side. You'll find it there. Also it was hard to plug the black connector reach the homelink right it's because it was meant to be plugged into a mic for the cellphone.

my friend cautioned me of the poor range as well. but I can open the garage door 1/2a block down. by the time i reach the driveway the garage door is fully open.

the remotes that came with the opener only work if I'm in the driveway and I also have a rolling code garagedoor opener.

problems

Some people have had problems with there garage door transciever from HomeLink either in the way you program it do to the new rolling code,in the newer garage door openers or the distance the door opens.I myself had both problems.Just get in touch with HomeLink at www.homelink.com or 1-800-822-2399 between the hours of 7:30am to 5pm,EST. They sent me a up graded tranciever which JMK BMW installed free of charge and told me how to program it to the rolling code. Now everything works fine and the door opens up at 300 -400 feet.
Good luck
