Thinking of putting it back to bags in the rear as it's too damn low right now. Have to sort the wireing for my blower and get a new deck. Gonna take out the headliner and re-do it as it's gross and stained. Pull carpet and steam it, clean it, dye it from grey/blue to black.

I'd love to do a swap but I think that will have to wait until I sell my 77 mini this spring.

I want it reliable so it can be my daily in the summer months.

I can't get over how clean that engine is.. updates??

A little update:

The project has been suspended for 2-3 months, I'm in the process of opening a used car dealership and repair shop.

It'll be exclusive to European cars, specializing in BMWs.

The owner of this vehicle, as well as his brother, and some of my funds are going to be used to purchase a currently standing building or to buy a plot of land and build our own.

Parts are still being ordered though, so it's still going to be completed. Last week we received the clutch kit, turbo manifold, megasquirt and sent the KKK turbo out to be rebuilt.

I wish I had the time, but school+work+property searching = no time to beat off.

Sounds like you have quite a little project yourself :p Imo, m50 powered e30 would be the perfect dailydriver. Plenty of power, no rocker arms to worry about, better power range and economy. Plus, they're cheap as dirt and the e30 5-speed can be used on it. Seems perfect

I also have a friend in Boston that I'm building a '88 325ix for. The car hasn't been driven since 1995 or 1996. It'll be used in the snow.

I WILL own an e30 touring some day MSN me or something, I'd love to see photos of your car.

Reminds me, I have 3 e30 parts cars I need to start tearing apart

Nice build... but as Horsepower Freaks has recently gone over... that coarse of cross hatching (hone) isn't ideal

Quote:
#2) These early motors were honed with a conventional abrasive. Conventional abrasives wear down and as soon as they start wearing, they start egg shaping cylinders. With low power applications without boost, this egg shaping in most cases won't affect engine performance or oil consumption. Machines shops that generally deal with the lower horsepower applications may not even know that their abrasives are egg shaping cylinders. It only takes a 0.001 inch difference from side to side to start costing performance, and on a high boost application as these abrasives are used on motor after motor, this egg shaping gets worse and worse. That may indeed by why our last motor they did was the worst by far. To combat this, our new engine builder, M&B, utilizes a super abrasive. This abrasive has 4 diamond holders on the tool that each hold 8 diamond inserts. This abrasive maintains it's tolerance over time and doesn't break down like the conventional abrasives do.

They guy we were building this engine for backed out of the deal. I'm working on trying to get a shop started. I have a friend that wants to buy the engine, so I may be able to finish this after all.

It's sad really.. all it needs is to be dropped in an e30, have intercooler and piping made, a downpipe made, computer wired up and tuning.
