Hi, i have made myself cable and installed it, but as yet have not managed to get it to work, can anyone help? i have the mp3 player playing but cannot find it when i cycle through the modes.
i am using a business cd hu manufactured 10/2002 which obviously has the aux on the back. the software version is sv-40-02-510 i have the bmw cd changer currently installed i made the cable from a 3 phono to headphone jack. i cut off the phono connectors and used the red and white as audio, and yellow as ground. Is this why i am not having any joy, i thought this cable would be fine?!? Help please |

Hi,
I got aux input installed in my car but apparently I can't use the cigarette adapter while using aux mode. Any suggestions? Edit: 12 amp noise filter... gotcha

so I'm probably going to buy the OEM BMW cable. Does anyone know if it has the resistors/caps built into the cable?

According to the diagram it seems to have the components built in.
I've just ordered the parts, including the fly-lead to mp3 player for about £15 to make my own, not sure where the best position is to place the socket yet though. I'm guessing the components aren't essential to use the input, the caps probably just provide some level of protection to the input and the resistor simulates a device being there so your "aux" menu option will show.

Purchased the cable from BMW and the Aux input appears without having anything plugged into the input. Works great!

That's what the resistor in the cable does, fools the HU into thinking something is connected so the AUX display appears.

ok if i read ALL of this right. for a 01 325i sedan i would have to get a newer HU if it doesnt not have a AUX button or i would have to get an interface to convert the Cd changer(which i dont have either) to an AUX port?
an the new HU has to be 09/02? and then i could make my own AUX cable for an i pod that could fit in the new rear HU? One more qquestion...i have a chevy and i did something similar but as soon as i unplugged the radio(stock) security thrft system locked me out completly and had to contact GM to activate it again. will it do it on a bmw stock HU?(stupid question) |

I was just reading these old threads. Looks like the link is:
http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=293 This is for the 2001 33i. I have a question of how this installs. Any pics on this? Quote:
