What does it actually mean by balancing the wheels?
I thought balancing is just mounting the tires onto the wheels correctly. Is that not the definition?

balancing is distributing the weight evenly on a wheel. when you mount tires, it may offset the weight. You may notice on wheels that there is a weight on the outer lip (on oem rims) or a weights mounted on the rim behind the face ( usually aftermarket wheels)
The reason for balancing is when the wheel is spinning so fast, the weight around the hub needs to stay consistant or else your car will wobble and eventually cause damage to the rim and other parts. |
