got a ticket...need some opinions
it says i need a state referee certification. cop was really been an ass, making me get out of my car, pop my hood, and taking photos of everything with his phone. i recently rebuilt my engine and added a turbo so there's no way i can pass any testing or certification. cop pretty much said if i don't get it certified, i cannot drive it on the street anymore. if i get pulled over again without the certification they will impound the car and crush it...wtf
anyways, really upset today because the car seriously took me two years to build and now i can't even drive it....i was just cruising 40mph in a 35 zone on my way to lunch in light traffic. cop was on a bike and made an u-turn to pull me over. i was polite to him the entire time and answered every question he asked...i think he has a thing against modified cars because he told me they pull over cars like mine to stop street racing...i told him that's a bad stereotype in a very polite way... anyways, am i assed out? pics of and new engine bay...681whp baby!!! but i can't drive it no more ![]()

Lately LA cops have been such DICKS. God damn I cannot stand them anymore.. Always trying to start shitt. I've been driving like a freakin grandma all over and I'm STILL paranoid. I still feel like they're gonna pull me over for SOME reason, even though as of right now I don't even have tint on the car.

will into the arizona thing...how are the laws in texas cause i've got a buddy who i can sign the title over to
getting my car smog certified is the least of my concerns. i have a "guy" i go to. apparently this state referee cert. thingy is a lot more complex and done by the state...traffic lawyer friend just told me in order to pass this is a new thing they've been doing to screw people over and make some $$$. apparently the car will need to be in 100% OEM state to get certified...................f--k

if you are lucky, TX will do the same as MD and allow you to register and title a car in your name even though you hold a CA license...or just "move" there and get a license and tags

Referees are no joke. Had a friend that had to ref his car and they gave him crap for the smallest things. Told him he had to rip apart the interior so they can inspect that also. Ultimately, he had to appeal to the state board and state officials inspected his car via photos and emails.

that's bull. no way you can get a stock m3 and go with that? screw around with the vin number or something.. In TX the laws aren't so bad, call up the DMV and find out

i had a friend that got pulled over in his crx and got the same ticket for having an engine swap, he had to take it to get certified by the state ref.
although his case is different, he took it to the ref. and he pretty much listed everything that needed to be corrected in order for his car to pass inspection... all he had to do was update his emission controls to that of the newer engine he had swapped into his car. he took the car back home and installed all the emission components for that engine into his car and he passed. he now has a new state ref. vin plate installed on the door jamb. it list the engine, tranny, and emission control system. no problems since. you have a modified stock engine... i would take it in to the ref. and see what he tells you about getting your car passed... if not look into how legal the kit you have installed is... if all else fails get a license and register the car out of state... but keep in mind if you keep driving the car everyday the cops can still pull you over for not switching the registration over and being a california resident... you have 30 days to do so when moving into california.

Also do suggest looking into Colorado counties in the northern area, most of them don't require emissions testing of any sort and I know several people who register their cars to PO boxes in the area.

I'm pretty sure it'll pass here in Texas. Anyways, good luck on the situation bro... that seriously is some B.S. Do they have the right to make you pop the hood?
