Recommendations for a hotel in New York City - near Central park

On my trip later this year to a conference, I will be making a small stop over for 5 nights in NYC.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a nice hotel for my family and I.

We have thougth about***********:

Hudson A Morgans

Crowne Plaza

Empire Hotel

I don't want anything too crappy, but I can't afford the Plaza either ;-)

The W has TINY rooms but the price I hear has gone down lately, its pretty cheaper then normal.
