car wont start, or jump, even with spare key..
ok, so i searched, and none of those solutions seem to work for me.
tried the spare key. tried jumping the car disconnected the battery for 15 seconds. and its a manual. so not the auto problem.... no alterations to the electrical system... the fuel pump is priming.. checked the physical connections to the battery, and to the alternator what i could see without starting to take things apart... car worked just fine 5 hours ago... all the electronics in the car work just fine, radio/alarm/windows, you name it.. just the starter isn't doing anything.. i don't get any clicking, indicative of a dead battery.... absolutely nothing when the key goes to start, weather on the cars battery, or on another vehicle from jumper cables. Thanks guys. Last edited by dakkon; 08-04-2009 at 10:21 PM. |

Dead starter then it sounds like. You said it yourself. "just the starter isn't doing anything"

Check the voltage on your battery. When mine went bad all of my dash lights and radio came on, but it wouldn't turn over.

dakkon,
I agree with Kert. Get a multimeter and see if you are getting at least 12.5V. Crank the engine and see if the voltage reading drops. If you do not hear a clicking sound, then the selenoid to the starter may have gone bad. You will likely need a E12 wrench to remove the torx bolt to the starter if it needs replacement. |
