your "significant other" vs. the M3...

We all love our M3s, of course... right? And there really aren't many things on this earth that could cause you to part ways with it, right? I'm experiencing a little rivalry between my girl and the love of my life (the M3). See, I met her before I became an M3 owner, and now, well the issue has come up, "yeah yeah if i was me or the car, you would choose the car...", things like that. Joking of course, but a lot of truth is said in jest, you know. You're damn right I'll choose the car. I think M3s are harder to find than willing females at the moment. But it's really sort of annoying, I guess she feels the way I would if I were to date a chick with an annoying dog that hates me or something, I don't know. Has anyone else experienced any "///M-related tension" in their love life, or has it perhaps worked the opposite way for them? I'm pretty bored, and I hope I'm not the only one with this affliction.

My girlfriend joked about the same thing when I picked up my M3 last month. And she got really annoyed because all I would do is talk about it for the 2 weeks before I got it, and at least 2 weeks after.

haha it's been about two months now and I'm still talking about it... she actually said she liked it once, though. First time driving in it, about 30 seconds in, then she went right back to hating it. Almost time to put it up for the winter though...

No problem here, if you're smooth, suave, and got the charm... you'll know how to balance things out.

At the end of the day - it is a CAR. There is no comparison between a car and a good relationship.

If your relationships are just about screwing around and treading water - then fine. But I wouldn't get my priorities twisted.

My friend...the fact that these things even come up mean you aren't managing your relationship correctly...

second...should't this go in OT? I thought you meant your M3 versus another car you own lol

True, but if you are in a loving, compromising relationship, this kind of thing should not even come up IMO.

I honestly don't know how people do this. If ideal relationships are built on mutual trust and respect, in my mind a woman trying to control what fills your garage qualifies as something worth throwing away.

Exactly! Its why I have been single for 4 years and I plan to stay that way for quite some time.

The 'man' trick here is to make sure any reply is light-hearted, witty, and honest enough to get her to recognize her insecurites.

Respond with, "Right now it's about 50/50, but your personality could tip the odds."

Then, smile.

The M3 wins... she doesn't yapp, ask where you've been, etc. All she asks you to do is to plant your foot on the gas. But then again, the mature answer is too compromise time with one another that way both you and your significant other are happy. There's a spot in my heart for both, one gives enjoyment in a way the other can't..

Agreed! If your girl complains about your car she's not sharing your "other" passion. My girl loves my M... she's always buggin' me about letting her drive it But yeah.. in the end of it, its just a car... I'd give my car away for her anyday tho im sure she'd be if i did.

She ought to know that your affinity for fine automobiles is part of what makes you, you. If the ///M were to go away you'd be a different person; she'd be dealing with a frustrated owner of some other kind of car.

Exactly...
I wouldn't really consider this OT, I wanted to discuss more along the lines of M3 related women problems/advantages, not really the nature of a "proper" relationship. I've been with my girl for a year, and we have a really great relationship, but she is very jealous of the love/attention/care/time I bestow upon my car, mostly because she's not into cars like I am. I guess this really shows the level of maturity some members have on here, I really was intending for this to be more lighthearted haha. But nonetheless, kudos for the advice, guys. Someday when I'm older and not in the Army, I'll be sure to apply it.
