Which USB flash drive should I get?
They're both 8 gig, $29.99.
![]() With the LaCie iamaKey, inventive storage meets data protection. The key-shaped design is functional and memorable, and the protection that the LaCie iamaKey offers makes it extremely reliable. Best of all, with its 4GB, 8GB, and 16GB models, you can fit an enormous amount of data in a small flash drive. With the universal USB 2.0 interface, iamaKey can be used with both PC and Macs. USB 2.0 not only offers universal compatibility and cross-platform convenience, but features a hot-pluggable connection and high-speed transfer rates, and is Windows ReadyBoost™ compatible. With its eye-catching design, the iamaKey certainly stands out, but its connector (Gold SIP) is both water- and scratch-resistant, making it one of the most durable and thinnest USB keys on the market. Protective edges on the connectors ensure that you’ll always insert the LaCie iamaKey properly, keeping it usable and safe. ![]() The 8GB Survivor features an anodized aircraft-grade aluminum case, which offers previously unheard-of durability! In true geek fashion, several third-party reviewers have subjected the Survivor to submersion in 12 feet of pool water, repeated drops from a garage roof, and even run it over with an SUV, and it continues to work! We obviously do not recommend that you subject your Survivor to such abuse, but it's good to know that it can easily withstand the rigors of living at the bottom of your briefcase, purse, or desk drawer! The Survivor USB 2.0 drive is stylish, compact, and reliable, so you know you can trust it with your MP3s, digital images, presentations and other critical data. This model is optimized for speed in up- and downloading. The included TrueCrypt security software enables AES-256-bit encryption, and hidden and password protected partitions. When you need to know your data is safe, no matter what, the Survivor offers you security and peace of mind! |

I'd get neither, but since you want either or, I'd say go for the key.

I have just recently bought a handy flash drive, and I didn't go with the Lacie or the Survivor because they aren't practical
The Lacie is slow from it's reviews, having a 8gb capacity is great but does not equal goodness when combined with a slow transfer rate. On the other hand, the Corsair Survivor, I thought about buying this because of it's ruggedness, but who really needs a waterproof flash drive? I know I won't unless I leave things in my pockets when I do laundry. At the end, I went with a OCZ Rally2 4gb Flash drive for $13.49 + free shipping. That thing is easy to carry around and has transfer rates of: 25MB/s Reading and 12MB/s Writing(transferred a 700MB file to it in 60seconds) |

to remind everybody that comes across that message to not make threads in situations where you, yourself, are the ultimate decider - at the moment of purchase leaving out everything said in such a thread when you finally realized to go with your gut instinct

My Ride: is slow

I almost got the LaCIE, ended u going with this 8 gb sandisk thats been great for the last few months. I use it mainly just for storing html and javascript...., so doesnt take a ton of space. Runs <$20 ussually online
Fits nice on my key ring too ![]() edit: another reason i got it is because of the durability, i think it said due to the titanium housing, it can withstand about 2000 lbs of weight and not break. Ended up buying the old man one too since he was in need of a new one. Voted +1 on the lacie incase you are set on one of those.
