Bumpers a different shade than the rest of the body?

Is it normal for the bumpers to be of a different shade than the rest of the body?

If they are painted a different color, sure.

mine are. I am guessing it has to do with them being plastic instead of metal but it annoys me sometimes. It's only noticeable when I am closeup and washing it, otherwise I really can't tell.

edit: its not a diff shade, they are just faded a bit more on mine.

Really? What color is your car? Perhaps it's an opacity level of the paint used.

My car is Orient Blue and there is no difference between color on body panels or bumpers.

Hellrot, bright red. The bumpers are not as bright as the rest of the body. Barely noticeable but I do because I'm anal about it.

Different materials respond to paint in different ways. Unfortunately it is somewhat normal to have an ever so slightly different shade between bumper and body. This is very evident when you get it repainted. Even if the exact same color is used, it looks slighly different. My wifes car is a vitim of this, although I don't care because she is just going to run into something else with it.

Someone hit my car from behind a few years ago and I had to have the rear bumper replaced. Even now, four or five years later, the color is exactly the same on the body and bumpers.

My front bumper is a slightly different shade, usually when in the sunlight from different side angles........ I would imagine steel grey is one of those colors that is hard to match perfectly.

Silver and gray are especially hard to match.

Disclaimer: my car usually has a thick layer of dirt covering it, so I'm not sure what the real color is anymore.

Also, white.
There are so many different variances to silver it's incredible.
Bumpers never match. Even from factory. Unless your car is OB.
