Coast Guard C-130, Marine Corps Cobra Collide In Midair Off San Diego

http://www.avweb.com/avwebflash/news..._201424-1.html

Being a former Marine and having many Coast Guard friends, my heart goes out to the families. Thank you and RIP.

Seriously, how could something like this happen?

Yeah, Cali can get pretty foggy off the coast but the weather was crystal clear...

When I was at Pendleton, there was always helo missions off the coast right there. That is also where we would do our beach landings/amphibious assaults, right off San Clemente.... At any given time there are Cobra's, CH-46's and CH-53's out there...in fact there is always a Marine helo out there, every single day.

I see those C-130s all the time, I live 5 mins south of MCAS Miramar.

the weather was quite nice here today. it was really windy earlier this week, but quite calm now.
