Enkei RPF1 wheels (18x8.5ET40) w/ Hankook V12 evo tires (255/35/18) all around

Anyone know if this setup (which is light and should provide above average grip) would work on a 4 door E46? In particular, will there be any rubbing issues up front with 255s mounted on a 8.5ET40 rim?

This looks like a winning combination from a price vs. performance ratio point-of-view.

Anyone have this setup?

Comments welcomed….

255s sound a bit wide... I have a coupe, and I have the same wheels sitting in my back yard waiting to be mounted when I get my car back The 225s I have on there are stretched just a tiny bit, and they seemed to sit pretty flush on the front when I test fit one. They were the recommended size from TireRack.

I can give feedback in regards to a coupe when I get my car back next week.

I've been wondering the same thing for quite a while. I've got a set of SSR Type Cs and a set of BBS RKs (well, three, anyway, but that's a different story...); both sets are square, 18x8.5 all around. I've got an '03 ZHP, and use it for street and track.

I ran 245/35x18's all around for a while. That worked ok, lowered the car a touch, no clearance issues, but it did tramline more. Mostly I've run 225/40x18s all around, and that drives very nice on the street, and track handling is nicely neutral, but having a bit more rubber on the road would be great. My offsets are ET42 and ET35 (SSR & BBS, respectively) if memory serves.

Somebody give us an answer, please!

9.5 +35 has been done all around has been done on a sedan with 255's without a problem. Check out forum member GunMoto.

Great feedback...
I know several guys w/ZHP wheels are running four (4) rear wheels all around w/o problems. The rear wheels are 18x8.5ET50's.The reason for the "square" setup is to reduce under steer. Staggered setup looks nice but it's quite impractical (can't rotate tires which limit tire life/wear).

I assume ET40s shouldn't be a problem up front but am not sure. The only problem with using ZHP wheels (M135s) is that they are quite heavy (28 lbs) when compared to aftermarket wheels like the RPF1s (18 lbs).

Swedish - let us know how the fitment works up front. And if possible, take a pic. I can't seem to find many non-M E46 pictures with RPF1 wheels except for either M3s or Z4s w/ 19 inchers.

Oh, you know I will be taking pictures

I'll be sure to link to them here along with pics of the fender gaps.

It required fender rolling but it wasn't a big issue.

I’m ready to pull the trigger this week to get this setup but have not heard back from Tirerack (they sell both wheels and tires) to see if this combo works. If the 255/35/18 tire fitment is questionable (particularly up front), maybe 245/35/18 square setup is a safer play.

Hmmm... I wonder if the BMW caps work with these wheels

TireRack will most likely tell you that they have not tested anything wider then a 235 on a Non-M front end. So the 255 will have to a custom setup you'll have to try out on your own.
