so i have been thinking of doing a s54 engine swap for my 325i, how many people on the forums have done this before? the reason being for me wanting to do this swap is because i like have 4 door sedans, and the price for a e46 M3 with low km's is about 65k and my resale value on my car atm is about 25k
i have been reading through alot of threads during the past few days, and i came across a user who said that its possible to use a euro s50 ecu on a s54 engine http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthr...=s54+swap+330i if this is actually possible does this mean i will not have to change the ews, ignition keys etc... ive been to http://e46.mit.edu/ who has done the same conversion but for a 323i i dont want to go to the extreme like he has, all i want is a s54 engine running in my car. so i would like to know wat exactly do i need just to get the s54 running in my car? and how much will i be looking at to get all the parts needed? Thankyou Adrian |

I would suggest that you ask this question on a different forum. Most of the people here are gonna reply "don't do it, it's not worth it"
while they do have a point, I personally think they reply with that because they don't know anything besides modding cars visually. And I think that the people who actually know something don't bother posting. |

^The difference with this is that down under, M3's dont cost a few grand more than a regular 3. They're usually 3-4 times the price.
OP, i'd say do it.. it comes out cheaper than buying an M3.. you don't get all the fun goodies the M3 comes with and the swap is pretty intense, but it would be worthwhile if you intend to keep hold on your car and really want some more power. I believe the website you listed has a full parts list with part numbers as well.

That being said, you probably do want to do a lot more than just throw in the new engine. You're going to really want the entire drivetrain plus beefier tires.

well I posted MITE46 site in another thread yesterday. And I told the guy to go for it. But he was doing everything and had a donor car. For you I'm not sure it's a better choice. You only want an engine swap. How much would that S54 engine and ecu cost you used? For about 330hp. How much would a used Supercharger (or new for that matter) cost you? For about 310hp. If it's just the engine alone I'm not sure I'm one for suggesting that over a FI project. But if it's the project and hobby aspect, enjoy. MITE46 site details well what to do and expect.

to be honest, supercharging your car for the HP sounds like an easier route, even though putting the S54 in would be awesome
