The question is ... why did they build a subway in a kitchen?

Don't get too excited, it's only the Boston T. It ain't no NY subway. Stops are pretty close together around where she fell off at and they don't go very fast underground.

I woulda freaked if I saw her fall onto the tracks tho.

Thats because they have 2 sets of brakes.

1 for high speed applications(slowing down in the tunnel), other for stopping in a station.

Both brakes are overbuilt to last from the heat and for less maintenance intervals.

So when they are both applied at the same time at full capacity, they stop very quickly.

well i dont know if this is the case or not (probably not because it said she "tumbled") but i have heard lots of stories of people trying to kill themselves by throwing themselves in front of trains..

What a dumbass that lady is at one point she just gives up and goes limp.

It's amazing that the driver got that train stopped that fast.

I don't know about Canadian English, but here in America a "car" is one section of a multiple section "train". It's been awhile since I've been on the T but I am sure there is more then one car on each train.

Yeah that train stop, which is downtown boston is where the train moves pretty slow probably around 20-25 mph tops, but thats not to say that train has a huge mass to stop in a short distance. I freaked when i saw this on the local news last night (i take this train to school and work haha) but dude she was wasted. She tumbled down and it looked like she hit the third rail which means she should have gotten shocked to death but shes lucky.

I was on the subway thinking about what I wrote and yes, A car is only 1 section of a train.
