Paying toll road fines...

So i ACCIDENTILY ran a toll on a onramp to a toll road.
I was lost and never been that way before, i was following a porsche and he took the "fasttrack" lane and i didnt realize.
This was the 73 in orange county

ANYWAYS.
I got a $57 fine for a $2 toll... which is ridiculous, and its due today.

Do i need to pay it?
What happens if i dont...
They dont have any authority to actually enforce fines right?

I dont think theyre affiliated w/ the state of CA or DMV.

Let me know what you guys think ASAP, if i dont pay this today they bump the fine to $102

um, the toll road hasn't been privatly owned in years, it belongs to the state. you MUST pay!

next time those HUGE and MANY signs that say "FASTRAK patrons only" catch your eye, heed the warning at hit the toll booth!

have a friend who has an account add your license plate #, then call customer service and see if they can wipe the fine and you pay your friend $2.

DO NOT PAY IT.....

Ive done the same thing with EZ Pass (Went through it by accident) 3 times.

I disputed it and was excused.

Tell them construction made you get forced off the exit (if kinda true), you were lost, it wasn't safe to get out of the exit lane.

grrrr

well heres my dispute, even tho i wont get to use it because this fukking website is a scam and wont let me submit it

I believe that the penalty assessed is excessive for an inadvertent mistake. I was lost and following a GPS unit, which did not notify me that I was entering a toll road. I was also following another vehicle which took what I now know is the "fasttrack" lane. It was pitch black, and I was concentrating on the unfamiliar road, so I was not aware of any "toll" signs. I was not aware of the toll until after I passed the booth, when I immediately slowed down and pulled over. I assessed the situation and decided it would not be safe to back up on an onramp for the fine I would have gladly paid. If there is a video, I assume there is because I didn't see a flash, you can confirm that I did in fact pull over. I am requesting a fine reduction because this was a simple one-time mistake.

its all true tho.... and the car i was following on was a porsche...

anyways, looking online, it says the fee isnt due till 11/19... so i guess i have 9 more days... even tho the letter says 11/10....

i'll figure this out after class.

In Chicago you can go online to pay tolls if you accidentally run one. They charge the same amount online as at the booth.

it's all very well signposted. it even tells you the violation amount right when you get on the toll road.

people need to start taking responsability for their actions. Don't do the crime if you don't want to pay the fine. He wasn't paying attention, that should be another ticket.

My Ride: crawls.
That is robbery!

The lanes here are actually labeled, 'Txtag or pay by mail,' and it's only like a dollar more than the original toll fee if you don't feel like stopping.
