Opinions on this entry level laptop
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Acer+-+E...1&lp=1&skip=1=
SPECS: Its an ACER * Intel Celeron 900 (1MB L2 cache, 2.20GHz, 800MHz FSB) * 15.4" WXGA (1280x800) TFT LCD Display * 2GB DDR2 667 Memory * 160GB Hard Drive * 802.11b/g/Draft N wireless LAN * Multiformat DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive w/ Double-Layer Support * 6-cell Lithium-Ion Battery * Windows 7 Premium Its for my little cousins birthday. She needs something to just do school work on and surf the net, and run her itunes. Is there anything that I should be aware of? Windows 7 running on this set up ....is that a problem? |

Any entry level laptop is going to be fine for her to do school work and surf the net. I would worry less about the brand and specs and just pick a laptop in your price range. Windows 7 isn't going to be a problem and I think it comes on every laptop now short of a netbook.

appreciate the advice. her pops lost her job and things are tight for them so i dont want her to be disappointed. I was able to find this deal and figured why not. Shes a good student and pretty good kid all around...why not..I just didnt know if it was going to lag or just be crappy. I will spend a few bucks more to avoid her being unhappy

Well you can't beat the price but you get what you pay for. If you buy that laptop and worry about it being slow, spend the $$ and pop in some extra ram. Check that its capable of expansion.

ooh, I was thinking computer for college... for a 13yo and her level of school work, that laptop is going to be just fine the way it is. I wouldn't spend a dollar more on something better, she will need to upgrade before college anyway.
