Mother****ers!
I think I might have gotten tricked into a facebook look-alike logon screen and just thought that firefox logged me out, then entered my information. That's the only possible explanation I have for all this. Just re-scanned my PC with Microsoft Security Essentials, but my PC is clean. None of my other online accounts seem to have been compromised. Still a freaky experience. Here's the transcript my friend sent to me after the fact: 11:10amFriendMy buddy called me to let me know what's going on, then strung him around for a while and tried to get a feel for how much this guy possibly knew. At this point, I'm hoping that it's limited to the facebook password. Anything similar happen to anyone? |

I've heard of this scam before. It's always good to know your friends have an ounce of brain power.

I got lucky, because I've heard of people's fb passwords getting changed so they have sole access to the account and they can keep trying to hit up different friends. Also, nothing appears to be changed.

Your friend should have told him that the money was wired, go to the Western Union to pick up, and have the cops there waiting for him.
Fvkin lowlifes.

I remember back in the day when like 95-96 when I got internet it was all about staying anonymous and using screen names and keeping everything private. You never knew what kinda people were out there.
Now everyone uses their real names and pictures so that if one of your accounts is compromised they have control of your whole persona. Nothing is private anymore.

That sucks dude. I'd have red-flagged it right there (If I had a FB account, that is) when he said something about western union.

For anyone to whom this has happened or who knows someone that it happened to: Has any other information been compromised?

i'm guessing they only thing they took is ur FB password, just find a way to reset it. Also they might have changed contact info in your FB profile, take a look at that. If you had any sensitive info in your mailbox, they could've gotten those as well

sh!tty, thankfully these idiots don't speak english as their first language and they always use westernunion lol
speaking of which, there was a radio commercial for western union and it was like "thanks to everyone using western union we were able to lower our rates to $8 for any transfer up to $200!!" I'm like, $8?! What a damn ripoff... with online banking, why haven't these stupid places gone out of business yet.
