Clicking sound coming from rear passenger side. Help?
While rolling at low speeds (10-30mph) I have occasionally (1/3 of the time) been hearing a clicking sound that immediately ceases when i touch the brake pedal. Upon release of the brake pedal, it comes back. I took both rear wheels off and looked around my brakes and suspension for something loose, and let my car idle in drive while the wheels were off and couldn't get the noise to occur. My pads and rotors are oem and in perfect condition.
The sound is a "chick-chick-chick-chick" sound like something is scraping. My suspension is stock sport package, on oem bmw 18's Any suggestions/input as to what this could be? I'm relatively new to bmw's and I did search this topic, only to find one case of the sound, which the OP said it was a hub? I don't understand this. All responses are appreciated.

could be a worn sway bar endlink bushing or a loose strut

Would that be affected by the slightest touch on the brake pedal? I'm talking slight as in not enough to make your cruise stop. The lightest depression of the brake pedal makes the sound completely go away, and there is no sound at all from the back of the car when i do that, but when i release, the clicking comes back.
and another note: the noise does not variate when turning either way.

same problem here
![]() do you feel any vibrations when braking? I checked to see what it was and it looks like a slightly warped rotor that brushes against the pads at one point and thus making a clicking sound. You would think it wouldnt be a clicking sound but anything over 1mph and it starts to sound like clicking. |

Do you have spacers? I had this same exact issue that I thought was first a CV joint but they were ok. It did go a way once I removed the wheels again and cleaned around the hub and wheel and spacers. I think the spacer was causing the issue because since then it hasnt come back sinc they went on and were tourqued correctly.

Hi,
It is the ebrake and it needs adjustment. Mine does the same and I just haven't gotten around to fixing it yet. Search 'ebrake noise' or the like here and you'll find all about it ! Cheers Colin
