Question Clunking Sound From Front

Hello everyone Lately I notice some clunking sound comes from front suspension when driving on rough road. Could it be shock absorber issue?

I have:
2002 325 CI Coupe with 110K on the clock.

Thanks in advance for your advice

when in doubt, change the control arm bushings

That seems to be the general rule. After almost a year of postponement, I am finally completing this repair over the weekend.

Thanks Countdownbmw, that could be it. Do you know how much the parts cost?

Easiest way to test is jack the side of the car up. Have someone move the wheel left to right, Look at the bushing, if there is alot of movement then the bushings are bad. Good time to do the control arms too at that mileage.

Rocket22, looks like you have 325 CI as well but newer. Did you experience the same problem? What are the parts cost alone?

Thanks,
Eddy

If you're checking the end links, make sure there's no pre-load on the bar. Pre-load can prevent you from tightening up the end link bolts. You'll end up with noisy, clunky end links that will drive you nuts.

I suspect your car has bad CABs as that's typical noise on rough roads. Easy to change both the bushings and the endlinks since you've got the front up and the wheels off.

What are the end links and CABs?
