a/c warm again! only hisses. should I DIY?

about a year ago I had my condenser and evaporator replaced. just today when I turned on the a/c it only hissed loudly and no cold air came out. I'm thinking I might be just low on refridgerant. I'd glady pay a pro to refill it. I called a mobile tech and he said they'll refill it for about $50. I'm just worried that if i have a leak, i'll have wasted $50. I have a DIY refill kit at home. I was gonna refill it myself and see if it leaks out and gets warm again.

opinions?

I'd just have them refill it. And for $50? I'm jealous. That will run like $100-$150 over here.

Go get the subzero r-134a (polar bear logo) on autozone and fill it up. My friend use that thing on his car and we open his car window while driving on summer because it's too cold inside.
