Just got a question about cables, i have managed to read the 64kb file with mpps and associated cable. However it isn't ftdi chip based but have used it many times before on bosch edc15c2 to flash files.

I'm pretty certain it will work, just seeing if someone has used it before?

Is ftdi preferred as you can modify the serial to work with galleto? But if mpps works I shouldn't need a ftdi cable.

I haven't yet put the ecu into boot mode with the cable to see if it will connect.

Unfortunately my vagcom cable isn't ftdi either, it's ch340t chip based. It works with INPA, I've bridged pins 7&8 but won't display ignition on etc

Perhaps if I wasn't comparing my B25 file to a B30 it would help

There are still quite a few changes from the B25 file, I have attached it as requested.

Cheers,

Additionally, does a detailed definition doc exist for the various table names for MS43?

No, just try to understand the abbreviations and you can make an educated guess on what each does ;-)

I've done the ICV / ISA delete via the wiki, and editing certain tables cause the engine to not start. I have a 325i.

My question: What do the tables ip_fac_pq_isa_mon, and ip_fac_pq_isa__isapwm do?

I removed the ICV / ISA and changed every table except those two mentioned. Doing so causes clicking relays on ignition, and the engine will crank but not start. Also, the table ip_tqi_maf__n__maf is covered in the wiki picture, so I can only see the first column.

Any help would be appreciated!
Hi Brutus,

some values and tables inside the 64k file are not only covered by CHK5 checksum, but also by CHK4.

This has to be corrected as its check is not disabled, to make the engine start.

Have people been using the Ultimo checksum corrector from the wiki with success?

Yeah i use it as im using 0036* it works fine. read the original file with galletto, open ultimo, open the file you want to write to DME, press check, check against original file, then once checked it has option to save it. Save it and write back to the DME.

When I tried using it, it only said "Checked = 2, corrected = 0" and the save button was grayed out

Did you check it against the original file you pulled off the DME? That either means there wasnt a checksum to correct or you have checked the file against a file that diddnt have the correct checksums in the first place.

You need to check it with a file that is known to work E.g the file you first pulled off the DME?

Yes, I compared it to the original file I pulled off of the DME. It is the 64kb one, right?

Let's say I only have the original 64kb bin file from my DME. I make a backup just in case I want to go back and then I edit one of the files for the exhaust pop.
For having exhaust pop: Would I make the edits, use the checksum corrector tool, then flash my DME using galletto?
For going back to stock: Would I just flash the 64kb backup bin file using galletto or do I have to use the software to correct the checksum?

If you wanna go back to stock you just flash the stock/original file with galletto dont need to do anything with it.

If you want to edit something, modify the original (exhaust pops), check the check sums with the original then flash to the DME with galleto.

Quick question regarding lambas's

Got a M54B25 with S50 spaghetti exhaust manifold, and straight pipes to a mid exhaust and final exhaust. No catalysts.

There's a single lambda straight after the spaghetti exhaust manifold.

If I'm correct I should use c_conf_cat, and set it to option 0

"Single bank with one pre-cat lambda sensor or cat-preparation (SA199)"

So I set it to 0, yet quickly after that the wiki mentions

After installing catless headers, it could be useful to eliminate post-cat sensors with setting "c_conf_cat" to "1".

Soo..... I'm kind of lost haha. Should I use setting 1... or 2? Or do they both eliminate post-cat sensors?

Many thanks!
