Hello fellow Fern Green owners,

I read elsewhere on the E46F forum that Fern Green coupes were only produced for a period of three months. Does anyone know if that's actually true?

(my Fern Green 323Ci was manufactured in early 2000)

Completely true. Fern green was one of the "launch" colors available on the E46 sedan in 1999. It sold VERY poorly and, in turn, they discontinued production of the color halfway through 99... at which point they had produced a decent chunk of additional sedans and select few coupes.

So yes, it's a very rare color

Thanks for the info!

I get plenty of comments about the car's colour, online and out and about. There are many silver, black and navy blue E46s around but any shade of green really is unusual. I have the beige leather interior so it resembles the classic british racing green combination usually associated with Jaguar.

I appreciate that!

A year or so ago I saw a 22k mile e36 m3 vert for sale on a local message board. The gent had said he purchased it at an estate sale. Magma vaders, 5 speed, original hardtop, all premium options (to me the lux package is a deficit, as the door cards.. well, they speak for themselves). A summer-only car, with dealership maintenance (although sparse) well-documented.

Either he didn't know what he had, or didn't care to wait out a serious flip. It sold for 12k within the day. I couldn't believe it..

Figure i should also jump into this one. 1999 323i sedan 5spd Fern Green with Black interior. So far all i did was clear corners and eagle eye led tails clear signal.

The 323Ci has been in the panel shop this week after a minor bingle, but it came back looking magnificent.

Also, in my opinion, I think our color looks good with the amber corners..also a all chrome kidney grill..
Still very nice!!
I have more questions lol
How many miles does it have??
Any more pics?? Mine has tan interior aswell..how is the condition of your interior?? My drivers seat is a bit worn..but rest of seats are a solid 9/10..

The amber vs clear corners is an ongoing thing on this forum, but it's a matter of personal preference.

I had ambers all round when I first got the vehicle (see pic) but my personal opinion is that the clear lenses look better on the darker coloured E46 coupes - but it's just my personal opinion and I encourage people to present a vehicle that they like - not what a whole lot of online experts reckon they should have!

I got mine last year, with 111,000 miles on the clock. I am envious at your getting one for USD2700!

The interior - like yours - has some wear on the front seats (visible in the other pic) but the rear seats looked like they've never been sat in. The driver's side door armrest (right hand side in Australia) did show wear from where one of the previous owners had rested his elbow while he drove so I had both armrests re-covered in new matching leather. Centre console armrest is the next job.

The interior trim has evidently come away in some areas previously and there are signs of a really amateur job of trying to stick it back using contact cement, including dried out contact cement on the headliner.

The kidney grille is another matter of personal preference. The car had all-chromes when I got it, but the clips were mostly broken so I bought some gloss blacks to replace them. Once they were on I didn't much like them, but realised I could replace the gloss black 'surround' from the new grilles with the chrome surround of the original ones, which gives a good compromise of chrome and black (it also pays homage to the E21 3-series of late 70s, which used this combination!).

Just got one. 330ci. Doing some regular maintenance before it's road worthy.

On a side note, if you ever see a parted one with good doors let me know!! Both mine have bad rust on the bottoms.

Ever seen an 01 330i 5 speed sport? I found one, and now own it. Maintained by Dinan since as well. Got rid of the 5speed sport Xit as I wanted a RWD and this just fell in my lap.
