I am looking to refresh the suspension on my '04 330ci ZHP currently @ 76,000 miles. Everything suspension wise is original on it except the FCABs I replaced 10,000 miles ago. After some research I believe I want to get the Koni FSD + Eibach Pro Kit, this combo seems to have very high praise on this forum.
My biggest concern is if the drop (1-1.5") will case me to rub at all? I replaced the stock wheels with 17x9's and 245/40/17s squared, will there be enough clearance upfront? I know my car would look a bit better with a drop, but this is not my reason for the suspension refresh. The car is my DD and I am doing this refresh for improved handling, I autox the car about 6 times a year. It seems the Koni FSD is the best of both worlds for a DD with improved handling and a smooth ride compared to OEM, if not better. I plan to follow some of Mango's thread (http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=932561) and replace the following: Reinforcement plates Rear shock mounts Front sway end links Rear sway endlinks Front sway bushings Rear sway bushings RTABs Steering coupler Any input/advice on the matter is greatly appreciated! Photos of my current setup:

Once you are done with the installs, you will definitely rub. That is if the car doesn't rub.

Running Koni Yellows with Eibach Sportline springs (more aggressive drop than the pro kit) on my OEM ZHP wheels, 12.5mm spacers in the rear and 15mm in the front. No spring pads in the rear.
Fronts will touch slightly on big bumps, same with the rears. You should be fine. What are the offsets?

APEX Arc-8, 17x9 ET42.
I'm trying to avoid spending extra money on spacers if I don't need to. How do you like the Koni Yellows?

I have installed half a year ago Koni Sport (Yellow) shocks , but with OEM springs. Now I'm going to replace them with Eibach springs, would like of course red Sportline springs for more stiff drive which lowering front with 30-35mm and back 15mm that info comes from eibach.ru , but don't want to have a look like no tires on it, when it is too low..
My rims front 8.5 with tires 225x40x18 and rear 9.5 255x35x18 , so the rear lil bit not fitting and some times were touching the frame on the not flat road with stock shocks, but with Koni Sport much better become! Now I'm afraid if will install these red Sprotline springs to not have rear wheels to touch the frames again. Or should be fine ? Pro Kit should fit 100% Other thing I'm going also install Eibach Anti-Roll Kit - sway bars, already decided, good reviews. But worry lil bit about what endlinks better to have ? Original or which can be adjusted ? Cheers

With 245s I think you'll be fine, worst case you'll need a fender roll, or a bit more rear camber.
When I run 265s on 9" wheels with stockish camber on coilovers it's fine. |

I have the fsd/eibach setup on my touring with 225 45 17 on 8 inch wide wheels with 26mm effective offset rear, 31 in the front.
According to "willtheyfitdotcom." your set up with 245's would be a little inboard from mine. I had to trim some of my rear fender, but I have a touring, and coupes are said to have more clearance that sedans/wagons. I say you will be fine but you may have to do some rolling and some camber in the front (your setup is more aggressive in the front than mine). I had to do NOTHING to the front on mine and after trimming the rear, I have zero rubbing issues. I would go for it with the idea that MINOR, very MINOR adjustments would be needed if any. Cheers. |
