My 2004 325ci

I've had this up on Bimmerforums for a while now but thought I would post here as well. Got my car back in 2016 in Florida - I have family there. I live in Memphis (although I'm from Scotland) going to college. I have always been into cars and my family has a number of cars that we take to track days back home.
After getting the car in Memphis, a member of my family down there was happy enough to do some preventative maintenance to the car before we drive it up. I have had it up here for just over a year and have had to get a new water pump and expansion tank. Apart from that the car has been great, and a big upgrade from my car in Scotland. I'm not planning on doing much to the car just regular maintenance and maybe a few things here and there to make it look even better.

Anyway I absolutely love the car, here it is.

Work already done:
- new ET, water pump, upper radiator hose
- coolant flush and bleed & new radiator drain plug and bleed screw
- all new belts
- oil changed every 7.5k miles with fully synthetic and MANN filter
- new side repeaters and front grill painted black
- removed front license plate holder
- redyed the black trim and debadged boot
- new silver interior trim (still to install the armrests)

Work that needs done:

- replace return power steering hose
- replace lower radiator hose
- install the new EBC Brake pads that I already have

Future plans:

- Looking to get new wheels or refurbish existing ones - haven't decided yet
- lowering springs
- new brake discs all round
- tinted windows and paint chrome window trim black

So photobucket isn't allowing me to host photos anymore. So I have edited the post and attached the pictures.

I will just reply every time I have an update, instead of editing this initial post.

Thanks
Andrew

Worked very well. Just need to make sure you use the cleaner concentrate to clean and dry out the surface.

So after 2, 700+ mile road trips in one week (Memphis to New Orleans and Memphis to Chattanooga) the car was due to get the oil changed. I used Mobil 1 full synthetic and MANN Filter. Also flushed the coolant out and replaced with new. Need to get round to changing brakes soon and am going to do plugs, air and fuel filter at some point too. I also cleaned the steering wheel using Mr Cleans Magic Eraser as it was looking worn. What a difference it made, I will post pics at some point.
While underneath I noticed a couple small leaks from hoses that will need replaced. I will order them this week and get them changed at the weekend hopefully.
Other than that the car was perfect and even managed 30 mpg on the Chattanooga trip which has some pretty big hills to climb over.

Nice car. One thing though, you mention Mobil 1 "Full synthetic."

Full synthetic means little to nothing. The question is are you using European Oil? There's an important spec BMW requires. Not all "Synthetic" oils meet spec.

I'm guessing more than likely you are using Mobil 1 5W-30. If so, it's the wrong oil.

It'll do, in a jiffy. But if you run your car hard at high RPMs, it won't meet the requirements set by BMW to really offer max protection.

The correct M1 oil to use is 0W-40 EURO

Got some work done on the car today. Developed a small coolant leak and after investigation I determined that it must be the radiator. Everything else had already been changed in the cooling system, and the leak was coming from down near the drain plug. So I ordered a Behr rad from ECS and a return hose for the rad that was also needing replaced.
Relatively easy procedure, had a slight leak after installing the new one, however after messing around with the trans heat exchanger and the mounting bracket, I managed to get it stopped. Filled with BMW antifreeze and distilled water and bled, and everything running good.

Here is pics of the steering wheel after I cleaned with the Mr Clean Magic Eraser, made a huge difference!

Next on the list is the power steering return hose, and also changing the front brake pads that I have waiting. I also have silver armrests to swap out for the wooden trim that I am not a fan of. But it is 90 degrees in Memphis, and I have to work on it outside.
