04 325i rebuild.

So I have bought a 2004 325i from my mother after my sister wrecked it. So I have my first bimmer, but already know all about it. Lol

Let's start with this cars history.
My mother bought this car in 2007 with 62k. Being mechanically inclined I do all the wrench work for my family. So when she bought this car, I got to researching and reading. From day one it has had a delayed park to drive engagement while being cold. After it warms up, shifts fine. Since she has owned it this is what maintenance has been done.

Serpentine belt
Tail light wiring harness (it melted)
Plugs
Valve cover gasket
Both intake boots(dry rotted)
Secondary air valve and hose
Front control arm bushings
Headlight lenses
Fuel pump
Brakes& rotors
2 right front window regulators
2 left front window regulators (currently broke needs a 3rd one)

Car has been awesome. Till one day this past February, my sister(who is 17) was driving way to fast and ran off a curve, took out 7 wooden fence posts and hit a concrete culvert with the right rear wheel.

This is the car in his past glory.

This is current d.d. 98 civic ex auto. Everything works, gets 35mpgs don't hate. Lol

This was day of the wreck.

After messing with the blow. Positive battery cable, its ran and drove. Right rear made terrible racket, but moved. Loaded it on a trailer and took it to my uncles to see what the damage was.

In the hint for parts, found a friend who bought a wrecked 01 325ci manual trans and pulled the drive train(minus rear end). Bought that from him for mechanical parts.

Parts car and my jeep. It's a ugly thing but far far from stock

This is the wheel that took the hit

Removed front bumper cover, have to take bumper itself off and replace impact struts.

Got the old broke. Suspension out, putting new in.

This lower arm, and the inner CV joint took most the damage. Broke the sway bar end link also.

Went to the salvage yard. Found a 03 steel blue 325i. Has 342k on the odo. The owners sent it to the yard due to the trans letting go.

It has a good front bumper and bumper struts. Snagged them. Got a driver mirror (glass is crap), but picked it up for $15. It has factory projector headlights. The passenger side is nice. The driver side is fadded bad. He wanted 200 for the pair. I may get them in a few pay checks.

Here's a pic of my new front bumper

that damage is super light for having hit 7 fence posts. You learned your lesson the easy way compared to how bad it could have been, don't let a woman behind the wheel of your ride.

Got the suspension bits changed out. Drove it back to my moms house and waiting for the glass guy. Here's some pictures of its current state.

I'm going to take the bumper to a bodyshop and see if I can't get it platic welded back together. There isn't any parts cars close to my area for a good rear bumper.

I have all the plastic bits and headlight bracket at my house. Once glass is in, it will be taken to my house and finished. Still on the search for a driver mirror glass, passenger mirror assembly, and a rear bumper if it can't be plastic welded.

Just got back from the Petit LeMans, it was very very wet time. Rain and water everywhere. Still had loads of fun. Picked up a passenger mirror assembly from a fellow e46 fanatic member. Now back on the grind and got me some glass installed.

Got a truck and trailer lined up for this weekend to move the car to my house. Then let the cleaning and front end work begin.

I'll be posting up a set of 17" BMW style 137 wheels for sale in the next few days. I'm waiting on my new wheels to arrive, but PM me for pics and pricing if interested.

I'm good at the moment. My lights are good. The driver one is out due to broken lower bracket.

Appreciate the offer, the spare is a matching wheel and I'm going to run these. I like the way they look for now. Lol

Good and bad things are happening today. Got the car home. Got the passenger mirror out, and problem. My mirror wiring is like printed circuit board wiring. The replacement mirrors I have don't.

Loaded up ready to transport

This is the mirror wiring. Bottom is wire that came off mirror, top is what my replacement ones look like. Wtf is going on here

It appears your car has a 6 pin mirror harness, what you bought is a 12 pin mirror harness. The 12 pin mirrors have memory or something like that. As far as i know they are not compatible

They bolt in, just don't plug in. I'm going to run them for now till I find the correct ones. I'll just have to cross my fingers pushing on them to adjust them.

Ouch. Bad enough to deploy the air bags?

All my trim is good. Wished it was the driver turn signal. Mine the outside lens has busted.
