In the USA the 2000 models were either a 323ci or 328ci. A previous owner changed the rear badge to appear as a 330ci.

Do this to be certain, get the last 7 characters of your vin and go to

http://bmwvin.com

I am not saying you are wrong, just check out the above URL or Hyperllink

I am so glad your happy, fun car to drive at any speed or badging if it is not an ///M3

Thanks for the info damills, but already checked the VIN and it's a 330ci. Cross checked it with Auto Classic BMW (closest authorised BMW dealer) and it's a 330.

Australia got the 330i/Ci from mid 2000 onwards

I stand corrected.

I would like to count my lack of accuracy to old-timers factly diagnosed with alzheimers, I am now 61.

Later dude

P.S.

Love your car, the 330ci had more HP and tourqe than the 323ci/328ci. I love the E46 so I got one the first at my dealership. Since 3 E36 3-series models, my count is at 21 BMW's now

And yes Damills the E46 330Ci (as well as the 323Ci, 325Ci and 328Ci) was sold in Australia, and it is much sought after today. Fordy_4 has a fine example of the model.

I would also suggest joining the BMW Club of WA. Good bunch of people, and you can do as few or as many of the club activities as you wish.

Got the car back today from the panel beaters to remove the door dings and scratches from the last 17 years of use. Overall, very happy with how the car turned out. It's not washed or polished, and the photos are taken on my phone in the apartment garage so not the best setting I know

I've ordered a wifi enabled ELM327 OBD2 reader to connect to my iPhone to hopefully diagnose the intermitted rough idle I'm having during cold starts. Research on here suggests either coil packs, spark plugs or vacuum leaks. Regardless, hopefully another simple fix I can do. On bigger things, the car will be going in for a Mango-approved full cooling system overhaul in October/November in preparation for Australia's harsh summer. This will entail a new radiator, new upper & lower radiator hoses, expansion tank, thermostat, water pump, pulleys and drive belt. I'll also endeavour to source a new windscreen cowl for a RHD E46 as mine is peeling due to the "Aussie" sun.

Had a long weekend today, so I decided to get started on diagnosing the oil leak. Searching and common thoughts are valve cover gasket (VCG) but upon closer inspection there is very very minimal oil on the exhaust manifold, and there's no burnt oil smell while driving or smoke. So, I've found it leaking from the front of the engine. First thought, head gasket leak

IMG_7396 by Christian Ford, on Flickr

To get a closer look, I remove the belly pan. Noticed it was severly damaged, from a kurb or rock I suspect, so I'll be ordering a new one soon. I took a can of degreaser and got to work cleaning all the oil off the belly pan, then started on the car. Wow, oil leaking onto the sway bar and what looked like the bottom of the starter or alternator. Cleaned that up too.

Before:

As it's all clean now, I'll leave it as is for a fortnight, then check again to see how oily the pan is. That will tell me how serious the leak is. However, checking the dipstick leads me to believe it's not serious much at all, very minimal oil used since last change/flush.

Open to suggestions on where the leak's coming from? VCG is original, but as mentioned no visible leaks onto exhaust manifold

Just looking at the receipts from when I had some oil leaks repaired when I first got my 323Ci last year: camshaft cover gasket and oil filter housing gasket. I've had a spotless garage floor since!

Thank you! With only 118,500kms on the clock it's been garaged a lot. I plan on doing another full detail before Summer comes again here in Australia which will really make the Fern Green come out again. The weather is to un-predictable at the moment

Nice maintenance thread! Love your car. Are your windows tinted? If so, its a nice percentage. Keep up the good work.

Thanks! I'm a firm believer in preventative maintenance when it comes to cars. I have a receipt from when they were done in 2011, but they are a 40% tint all around (I think!) I would personally like the rear windows darker, at 20%

Nice thread! I have been having a coolant leak for a few months now, nothing big, but enough to bother me! Anyway, after close inspection, I found where the leak was. Actually, it was from the bottom of the e-tank. The hose wasn't all the way inserted & had a s-l-o-w leak. Just did it today. Pretty sure the problem is fixed!
