A small upgrade to the car today. I followed an E39Source video for upgrading the On-Board Monitor knobs as my volume one was a little jumpy and the menu knob was a little sticky. They were on sale at FCP Euro so I bundled it with another order I placed. Video is below for those interested:

Below are the part knobs for the 4:3 display. Please note that the newer 16:9 use different knobs

A newly formed BMW group in Perth called E-Chassis had their first cruise today, only 4 cars but a good bunch of people. Started in the CBD and snaked our way out through to the hills.
This is the first cruise I've been on in the E46, and I can say that this will be the first and last Automatic car I buy for a long time. Coming from a V6 manual car before, throughout the whole cruise it felt in the wrong gear, even in Steptronic sport mode with me shifting.

If there are any Perth E46Fanatics members interested in joining, send me a PM.

We had my 2000 E46 330ci, 1998 E36 328i, 20XX 135i and 2001 E46 330ci UK Import

I need to do this to my Business CD. The knob is loose and only can control the volume; I can't push it in to power off the head unit.

Love the thread and your car!

Thank! I'm sure the part numbers can be found on Real OEM. I bought these knobs from FCP Euro

Wow, it looks great, especially the color. One of the few that I've seen that looks so good. Never thought of this color, but I have totally fallen in love. Maybe if I was to get a brand new on DSRLeasing I should start picking by color first hah.

Another week, more preventative maintenance. I replace the fuel pump back in Jan this year as that is a very common failure item and I knew it was the original one. So, to keep fuel flowing freely, it's time for the fuel filter and pressure regulator to be replaced.

Today I replaced my 4:3 monitor with a 16:9 out of a 2002 330i. It has a small area of dead pixels in the corner, but I got it for considerably less then normal so I don't mind

From this:

To this:

Makes the interior feel much more modern so I'm happy

Very simple plug and play. Hardest part was working how the BMW blue & white clips on the back of the head unit come undone. I followed this E39source video:

NOTE E39, E38 and E53 Navigation monitors are different to E46 ones

That is so wonderfully OEM. I actually love the dated on-screen graphics.

Judging by our threads, we both love the OEM look

Full valve cover gasket replacement completed and installed new windscreen cowl. While it was all apart, installed new Platinum spark plugs

The old cowling was that bad it was breaking away from the thread on the windscreen when the bonnet was up, the harsh Australian sun doesn't do wonders for rubber

I found the cause of my fault codes below

IMG_7576 by Christian Ford, on Flickr

Again, thanks to this forum and Mango I was able to clear the EML and ASC lights.

Here's the cause! Damn torn lower intake boot. I could fit two fingers in the gap :O

IMG_7704 by Christian Ford, on Flickr

IMG_7705 by Christian Ford, on Flickr

The lower boot was the only one damaged, but me being me went and replaced the whole lot. It now has new upper & lower intake boots, clean throttle body and new DISA.

Old DISA

New DISA

I used Rein intake boots & DISA from FCP Euro

Nice, looks really great! Much better than a lot of newer cars I see or had an occasion to ride. My friend at DSRLeasing has E36 coupe "96 and it still eats a lot of newer models in terms of looks and dynamics, so it all depends on how you take care of it!
