Different cars require different offsets and widths. Since the outer and inner position of the wheel are directly connected to the offset and width, you will need to know what sizing the wheels you are purchasing is. I would say that on a LCI E90 it probably wouldn't be too much trouble since they use a higher offset wheel in the rear (similar fitment to E46 non-Ms).
We generally recommend an 8.5 up front with offsets ranging from ET35 to ET40, and 9.5s in the rear with an ET45.
Sgplayer69 (nick) had e90 wheels on his ZHP for awhile. They looked great and I'm sure he'll offer you some good advice.
