A suicidal skydiver sent a video to his wife telling her he wasn't going to pull the cord on his parachute just seconds before he leaped to his death.

Capotorto Vitantonio jumped from a plane Tuesday morning about 10am, just moments before the crew received an urgent message from dispatchers on the ground, urging them to stop him.

Distraught wife Costansa Litellini, 25, ran into the Skydive Deland building in Florida, begging employee Tara Richards to stop her husband from sky diving.

Litellini had just received a video from him, saying he was “not going to pull the cord and that he was going somewhere wonderful,” police said.

Richards immediately radioed the plane, according to a police report, but Capotorto, 27, had already jumped.

Some people want to impact the earth as little as possible.

Some people want to leave their mark behind.

Not sure how much someone explodes on impact, but I'm sure it makes for for a long day at the mortuary. I guess it would depend on the hardness of the surface he landed on: sod might take some of the impact away, but pavement might cause some skin tearing. Don't forget that he was probably falling about 120-130mph unless he went head first.

Quote:
In stable, belly-to-earth position, terminal velocity is about 200 km/h (120 mph). Stable freefall head down position has a terminal speed of 240-290 km/h (around 150-180 mph). Further minimization of drag by streamlining the body allows for speeds in the vicinity of 480 km/h (300 mph).

Now, this is not with ALL jumpers, in fact I have only seen it twice. But it was unusual enough to always come to mind when I attend deaths from jumpers/fall from heights.

Overall, there is much less biological 'spray' at the scene then what you would expect. The decedents I have seen are mostly intact. It depends on what part of the body strikes first. If it is the head, you will have some gray matter escape, but it is typically less than from a gunshot wound. Often when you have someone that has fallen off a cliff- and they strike several times on the way down you will have the 'broken watermelon effect'- where there will be gashes with muscle exposed, but little bleeding.

The worst part is moving them and undressing them. While the skin is somewhat complete, the bones will have shattered and offer no structure- and rigor does not seem to stiffen them. The legs are often like tubes of jelly- very difficult to remove the clothing. We try not to cut clothing in case it is needed for evidentiary purposes.

I have no personal experience with jumpers from height into water, so I add know-how there.

So, overall, I would not say there is "a lot" of splatter.

Either way, street pizza.

Some mental problems can cause one to take actions from which there is no recovery.

Is this Darwinism in action? Did he take this action before or after breeding?

I heard the audio this morning but can't find it.

A Florida man allegedly made up a crime in an ill-advised attempt to get his phone back.

Eric M. Ross, 23, of Maryland, called 911 on Sunday and claimed that a man had shot a woman at a home in Daytona Beach, according to the Daytona Beach News-Journal.

Daytona Beach police responded as a calm Ross stayed on the line with an operator. His demeanor remained the same until officers arrived and pointed their guns in his direction.

"OK, look. Make sure I don't get shot (expletive)," Ross said to the operator, according to the Daytona Beach News-Journal.

As officers summoned Ross, he admitted that no one had been shot, claiming he had called earlier "about his phone possibly being inside the house," according to the Daytona Beach News-Journal. Since police didn't respond to the original phone call, he decided to call a second time and make up the shooting story.

Ross was arrested and charged with misuse of the 911 system and unarmed burglary, after officers determined he had attempted to break into the home to look for his phone.

He was released form Volusia County Branch Jail on $5,500 bail.

That looks like a nice 1911.

That theory should have been tested by tossing those little pricks into the water. And maybe hold their heads under for 5-10 minutes, just to be sure.
