That's a pretty good deal, glad it all worked out for you!

Lesson here is that you'll get more mileage if you can get somehow to a point or place you can do it yourself! I know you can't right now. But there is a mentality with these cars, BMW's, it would appear, that even if it ain't broke, just replace it! There must be a lot of people who don't crawl under these cars and just go along with what a mechanic tells them, evident by so many posts of thievery by both dealerships and unscrupulous mechanics! But as you've shown, there's still some good guys out there!

Monday morning quaterbacking is easy, but I would've got under there, pulled the trans plug, pumped more oil into it until I seen where it was leaking from. It would've been the best way to know... Just sayin

Again, good deal and make sure you spread the word about the mechanic, word of mouth business is the best advertiser!

Totally agree. I'm really looking forward to being able to DIYing more with the car. I'm gonna tackle some of the body work myself when it's no 97 out.

Can say enough about http://www.mpmotorwerks.com/ in Charlotte North Carolina. Hopefully someone doing a "search" will see this.
